Marine heat exchangers play a role in the heat generated by machinery
Marine heat exchangers play an important role in eliminating the heat generated by the machinery in operation to ensure the smooth operation of the equipment. There is also a need to enhance the heat exchange capacity, which will be reduced after a certain period of operation.
The cooling medium used in the heat exchanger depends on the medium used, including other factors.
Seawater, together with media such as fresh water, air and petroleum, is also used as an important cooling source in offshore heat exchangers. However, due to the presence of dissolved salts in seawater, corrosion and scale deposits are common in heat exchangers. Therefore, marine heat exchangers must be regularly maintained to prevent reduced heat transfer or equipment failure.
The maintenance method used depends on the type of heat exchanger and the type of deposits, but the overall goal of each heat exchanger's maintenance program remains the same—cleaning the heat transfer surface to prevent any obstacles in the flow process.
The main cause of fouling on the surface of the heat exchanger is the increase in temperature difference and pressure change between the two fluids. However, due to corrosion and scale deposits, the seawater side of the heat exchanger is the most affected.
